The Challenges of Getting to Space
Getting to space is not as easy as most sci-fi movies portray. There are many obstacles that scientists and engineers must face to successfully design and launch a mission. This presentation will outline some of the motivations, challenges, and innovative designs for going to space.
After students will have the opportunity to design their own lunar lander using an assortment of provided materials. Once completed, each lander will be dropped from a height of 1.5 metres in the hopes that it will land upright and thus complete a successful touchdown.
