GreenGuardian: Automated Weed Detection and Elimination
London Central Secondary School
Garden, lawn, and farm owners all struggle with weeds; they solve this issue by spraying herbicides, which are harmful chemicals when used excessively. In this project, I aimed to automate weed elimination while reducing the amount of sprayed herbicide. I achieved this by creating a prototype of an autonomous robot capable of covering an area, detecting weeds, and then spraying them individually and precisely. The prototype is 3D printed and utilizes a camera to capture images, a microcomputer to process data, and distance sensors to avoid obstacles. My autonomous robot will reduce the environmental impact of agricultural activities efficiently by significantly decreasing the use of harmful herbicides.
