Biography

My name is Waleed Sawan, I am a grade 10 student and I attend Oakridge Secondary School in London, Ontario. I know 3 languages; English, Arabic and French. I was born in Newcastle Up-On-Tyne, England. I have lived in Canada since I was four years old and had the opportunity to travel to a number of other countries. Outside of school, I enjoy playing the clarinet, reading, writing, soccer, running. I participate in at school are band, robotics, math, cross-country, as well as mentoring an FLL Robotics Team at an elementary school. As well, I have started a foundation that mentors Developmentally Educated Students (DE) to create Engineering oriented projects for their local Science and Engineering Fairs. This is my third Canada Wide Science Fair. Some advice that I would give to other students thinking about doing a project is to take your time choosing a project that you like, because that is on of the hardest parts of doing a project. Choosing a project that you like will make it a lot easier and more enjoyable to do.
