RoadVision AI: An AI-Powered Road Management System

London Central Secondary School

RoadVision is a smart road surface monitoring system designed to help cities identify potholes and cracks more efficiently, addressing the challenge of relying on citizen reports or periodic inspections that can miss critical road damage. It uses a camera mounted on city vehicles such as school buses and garbage trucks to capture video footage of the road surface as they travel their routes, which is then uploaded for analysis. An AI-powered program analyzes the footage to detect road damage, highlighting the exact location and severity of each issue. By providing accurate and timely data, RoadVision enables municipalities to prioritize repairs, save money, and reduce unnecessary maintenance. The system also contributes to safer roads and pathways for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians while supporting environmental sustainability by minimizing waste from avoidable roadwork.
