Melody Minds: Exploring AI-Assisted Creativity
Monsegnior Bruyere
We know that traditional reading methods don’t work for everyone (1). I combined a customized AI model that made songs about subjects from the Canadian curriculum; and SUNO, an AI music creation program, to generate educational songs. To see if this method worked better I did a study where one group of students learned by reading and the other group learned by listening to the songs. I compared their test results at four different times: pretest, immediate post-test, 1-day post-test, and 1-week post-test. The test scores were similar between the groups immediately after studying. However, the song group had much higher average scores on the 1-day and 1-week post-tests compared to the reading group. This shows that song based learning improved the retention and understanding of students over time.
